Cruise Excursion at Grand Turk

Grand Turk is our favorite beach day excursion when cruising. We’ve been able to visit Grand Turk a total of 3 times and each time has been perfect! We visited during the months of March and February. The best time of year for the weather to visit is during April and October; however, the temperature is rarely going to dip below a sunny 75 degrees. The weather truly is beautiful year round.

We’ve learned a few things during each visit that can hopefully make your visit even better. Kind of hard to imagine though, right? Grand Turk highlights crystal clear water and beautiful white sand. What more could you ask for?

Grand Turk is an Island in the country of the Turks and Caicos Islands which is located in the Atlantic Ocean between the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic. It’s a very common cruise port! The country is a British Overseas Territory and is home to a population of nearly 5,000 people.

As the adventurous travelers we are, we usually like to spend our days in port checking out the history and cultural beauty of each port. We research the most efficient way (financially and time-wise) to visit the different sites in each country. However, hear us out. Grand Turk is the perfect day to not do an excursion and rather visit the beach instead. Especially if you have already been doing exclusions at each spot.

As the ship docks, you will be immediately greeted by sparkling blue waters. As you begin to exit the ship, your eyes will meet the white sandy beaches. We suggest heading to the right beach as all of those chairs are free and less crowded. You’ll immediately want to head to the right; however, most of those chairs are not free and it’s much more crowded. The area to the right is a little rockier under the water, so water shoes would be ideal to pack as well! We also suggest exiting the ship as soon as possible to ensure that you do get a seat.

While spending a relaxing day on the beach, you’ll be greeted by locals who are offering several different services ranging from water, fruits, and hair braiding. The drinks are tasty and cheap! Don’t be afraid to try some out. You can also check out the Margaritaville (the largest in the Caribbean) that’s located on the beach or the shops located behind the beach. Be sure to check out Jack’s Shack if you want to try out some local cuisine such as conch fritters! Grand Turk offers spas and restrooms as well so you won’t have to get on and off the ship until you are ready to head in for the day!

Check out that sparking and crystal-clear blue water! We are missing Grand Turk as we write this blog!
