Welcome to Appalachian Travelers! We are so excited to begin this journey of blogging our travels. We are even more excited that you are here! We are planning to share some awesome trip itineraries, travel tips, beautiful destinations, unique stays, and much more.
Our names are Justin & Caitlin and together we make up the Appalachian Travelers. We met in high school, developed our relationship during college, and decided on forever upon graduation in 2018.
Since 2018, we have been traveling during our free time to so many different and exciting destinations! The desire to travel and the dream of visiting various beautiful places have always been something we had in common. In fact, Justin promised me in our wedding vows that we would travel the world… and we are doing just that!
Our love for travel has only grown as we have begun to travel every chance we get. We’ve also got a lot better at traveling! We’ve made our fair share of mistakes and we’ve gathered information as we have traveled that we wish we knew at the beginning. It’s truly been an amazing journey thus far and the most exciting part?! That journey isn’t over! It’s just beginning!
We were originally nervous about traveling; despite the nerves, we began our journey… and it was one of the best decisions we have made! This journey really took off for us when we visited Nevada, Utah, and Arizona in May of 2021. At that time, we created our Instagram page to share the footage we captured for our memories, friends, and family. After much encouragement from our families and friends, we decided we wanted to do so much more!
We don’t travel full-time… we actually have full-time jobs that have nothing to do with travel! Justin is a correctional officer for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Caitlin is a doctoral psychology graduate student who was recently matched for an internship with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where she plans to continue her career as a Clinical Psychologist. Making time for travel is super important to us! You don’t have to be a full-time traveler to visit beautiful destinations and create awesome memories on your travels!
So why start a blog now? Truly, the answer is that the blog will be a place where we can provide the various insight we have gathered on our journey and the insights we will continue to undoubtedly gain. We have so many memorable and beloved trips that we would love to share with you! By share, I mean we are sharing all of the details… the dos, don’ts, and everything in between. We provide you with our full itinerary including what to pack, where to stay, where/what to eat, mistakes to avoid, free/cheap things to do, and how to get the most bang for your buck.
